How ICE’s Mishandling of Covid-19 Fueled Outbreaks Around the Country
To date, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has reported over 12,000 virus cases. Our investigation found a pattern of neglect and secrecy in how ICE handled Covid-19 in detention. Combining video interviews, exclusive medical records, and original data analysis, we documented how sustained outbreaks inside ICE facilities cost the lives of immigrant detainees and employees, and had a lasting impact on the surrounding communities.
